GURLEY SELLERS FAMILY:   PARENTS:  To date, Gurley’s parents remain unproven.  A descendent of Gurley’s brother, Jordan Sellers, reported in the Sellers Letters in 1984 that Gurley’s father was Arntil Sellers from Ireland (see link below).  A professional genealogist suggests that the name Arntil was corrupted from the name Arthur and that based on the Sellers Letter’s report, Arthur was the likely father of Gurley.  Yet another report submitted to the Heritage of Jefferson Co. AL (~1990’s) suggests that Gurley’s father was Joseph, however it has several other errors recorded in the article.  I am also suggesting that Wright Sellers is yet another candidate.   I have the 1880 census for Gurley who left his parents birthplace blank; Emanuel shows NC for both; Jordan shows VA for his father and NC for his mother.  Emanuel was living with son Allison so may not have provided the census info himself while Jordan was still on his own with a relatively young wife so his might be the more accurate accounting.    SELLERS LETTERS                    ARTHUR SELLERS, JR.               JOSEPH SELLERS        WRIGHT SELLERS                                       Heritage of Jefferson Co.   WIFE:  DELILA WYATT and Gurley were married in Nash Co.
